OMNI SAN DIEGO HOTEL OPENS IN SAN DIEGOS NEWLY REVITALIZED GASLAMP QUARTER

Adjacent to Padres New PETCO Park

SAN DIEGO, April 2004....Meeting planners, sports enthusiasts, business leaders and the mayor of San Diego were all present at the official opening of the new Omni San Diego Hotel which opened in the city's historic Gaslamp Quarter on April 7. Connected via skybridge to the Padres new PETCO Park, the $124 million, 32-story luxury hotel features 511 guestrooms and suites with scenic views of San Diego Bay, the ballpark and the San Diego skyline. Atop the hotel is The Metropolitan, featuring 36 privately-owned penthouse condominiums as the first condominium community in Southern California to be integrated into a high-rise hotel.

Featuring a sleek aluminum and glass exterior, the Omni San Diego Hotel launches a new generation of Omni Hotels with a refreshing contemporary motif. Designed to capture the urban sophistication of San Diego today and its bayside location, the hotel's sweeping southwest façade is suggestive of a taught sail, positioned to provide panoramic views to the bay and beyond. Inside, a beautiful stone wall in the lobby evokes Point Loma, and the clean lines of a wooden racing yacht can be found in the hotel's front desk. Guestroom carpeting is textured to resemble ripples in the sand, while shutters in all king rooms allow natural sunlight to filter through to the bathroom. Serene California colors are used throughout the hotel.

Each guestroom and suite is equipped with high-tech conveniences including complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access (WIFI), an executive work desk with modem outlet, two dual-line telephones with personalized voice mail and an in-room electronic safe able to accommodate most laptops. For comfort, rooms feature 330-count Egyptian cotton sheets, plush terry robes, fully-stocked refreshment centers and coffee makers.

The hotel provides an action-packed meetings destination, with more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space across the street from the San Diego Convention Center, within walking distance of more than 80 restaurants and boutiques and just four miles from San Diego International Airport. Meeting space can accommodate groups of 30 to 1000, including a 9,266-square-foot Grand Ballroom, five smaller ballrooms, nine state-of-the-art meeting rooms, three stately boardrooms and an outdoor pre-function terrace. All meeting rooms are equipped with T-1 high-speed Internet access, built-in audio/visual equipment and ergonomically correct seating. An Executive Business Center offers computer and e-mail access, office equipment rental, a notary public, printing, faxing, secretarial, mail and packaging services.

The Metropolitan was developed by JMI Realty. The residences represent the first Southern California condominium community to be integrated into a high-rise hotel. In addition to their own private lobby, elevators, parking and community amenities, the million-dollar-plus homes enjoy access to four-star Omni amenities and service.

Dining choices include the hotel's three-meal restaurant, McCormick & Schmick's, featuring more than 40 varieties of fresh seafood daily; the Lobby Lounge as a gathering place for cocktails after work or a microbrew before a baseball game; The Terrace Grill, offering sandwiches, snacks and beverages for poolside dining; Morsel's, the Expresso Bar for fresh pastries, desserts and gourmet coffee; and 24-hour in-room dining.

During free time, guests can enjoy the bay view from the 8,000-square-foot rooftop terrace while relaxing in the outdoor heated swimming pool and spa. Exercise options include a full-service fitness center, nearby walking and jogging routes and the Get Fit Kit, for private in-room workouts. Just outside the hotel a wide variety of activities include trendy restaurants and nightclubs in the Gaslamp Quarter, quaint shops and restaurants in Seaport Village and nearby museums. The Children's Museum, San Diego Civic Center, Horton Plaza and the Museum of Contemporary Art are all within a mile.

Family fun is just steps away with the Padres new PETCO Park for baseball fans and the nearby Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld for animal lovers. Within the hotel, the Omni Kids Program offers children rolling backpacks filled with games and books and a kid-themed restaurant menu and nighttime children's snacks. The Omni San Diego Hotel is managed by Omni Hotels. The hotel is co-owned by Omni Hotels and developer JMI Realty. The property is an integral component to San Diego's new Ballpark District, a 26-block redevelopment area surrounding the San Diego Padres new Petco Park.
