Omni Hotels Pioneers Hospitality Industry By Forming Sensory Advisory Board

Luxury Hotel Brand Enhances Guest Experience with more Industry-First Sensory Initiatives
     
IRVING, Texas (May 23, 2006) — Omni Hotels announces the creation of the Sensory Advisory Board composed of members representing some of the world’s most well-known and admired brands. 

Omni Hotels selected the 10-member Sensory Advisory Board to provide non-hospitality expertise from brands whose success is closely linked to the senses.  The Board will help to shape and create sensory initiatives developed to enhance the hotel experience for guests.  Careful consideration was given to ensure representation for each of the five senses.  For example, panelists from Apple®, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and The Juilliard School bring an expertise in sound, while Whole Foods Market, Benziger Family Winery and Bon Appétit magazine are market leaders in taste.  Others represented on the board include the Kimbell Art Museum and MB/FA Galleries (sight), Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas (scent/touch) and the National Cotton Council of America (touch).  The Board will convene several times a year to weigh in on everything from guestroom and bath enhancements to lighting, music and food.

The Sensory Advisory Board recently provided input on the launch of another major round of industry-first sensory initiatives designed to enhance the total guest experience through an unprecedented emphasis on the five senses.

Online Booking Bonus with Sensational Offerings
Omni is offering “Take Five,” a new online booking bonus promotion in which guest may select one of five complimentary sensory-oriented gifts – each corresponding to one of the five senses – on their next stay:

  • Taste: Savor the moment with a bottle of wine
  •  Touch: Wrap yourself in luxury with an Omni Hotels signature bathrobe

To take advantage of the “Take Five” promotion, guests must make reservations online at www.omnihotels.com/takefive.  Guests will receive their chosen gift during stay at Omni Hotels.

Sensational Items Reinvent the Minibar
The company also is rolling out its new Sensation Bar, a tray of fun, quirky surprises for each of the senses.  The Sensation Bar includes such items as eucalyptus bath salts, pomegranate lip balm, mojito-flavored jellybeans, a sleep-inducing CD, a miniature Zen garden and a magnifying lens.  The Sensation Bar will be offered initially at the Omni Mandalay Hotel near Dallas and followed by the Omni Chicago Hotel on Michigan Avenue in June.  It will be rolled out across the country later this year.

Additionally, Omni Hotels is working with professional “audio architects” to formulate tailor-made soundtracks appropriate for each section of the hotel and time of day.  Omni Hotels also devises culinary adventures that appeal to both guests and locals offered through several non-traditional signature restaurants, such as Noé restaurants in Los Angeles and Houston and 676 Restaurant & Bar in Chicago.  In the coming months, Omni will build upon its sensory initiatives, rolling out new programs and amenities in its continued quest to provide guests with an extraordinary hotel experience.
