Spring 2018 will bring a long awaited change to the Louisville, Kentucky skyline with the addition of the Omni Louisville Hotel.
But even more exciting than the change in landscape was the opportunity to explore the history and elements that make Louisville unique, and find ways to bring those touches into the hotel.
“When they said they were going to get to know our city I said, ‘Well, that’s great,'” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “But little did I know that hundreds of people from the Omni team would be flooding into not just the city, but the region around here as well. Learning about the history of our city, the future of our city, the plans that we have…it was really extraordinary.”
“Derby City”, as Kentucky Derby fans refer to it, has a rich heritage and boasts many celebrations of the city’s history: a city-wide trail filled with award-winning micro-distilleries, exhibits and craft cocktail destinations, legendary Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, and the Muhammad Ali Center. Bourbon and Derby influences abound in Louisville, and the Omni design team worked to design a hotel that reflected the vibrant, growing destination.
“We were very inspired by the city and we want the hotel to inspire the guests,” Omni VP of Interior Design said. “I hope the locals feel very proud in that we’ve captured the essence of Louisville when they enter the space.”
