Written by Allison Emery. Located in The Battery Atlanta and adjacent to SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta is the crowning jewel to what has become a destination to live, work and play, as well as watch the city’s beloved MLB team. The 16-story luxury hotel is the newest addition to the diverse landscape of The Battery Atlanta, a 60-acre mixed-use community just north of downtown, that boasts a wide array of retail, restaurant and entertainment offerings.
“This was a unique opportunity for Omni,” says Ramon Reyes, general manager for Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta. “It not only was a chance to play a pivotal role in a very prominent, new mixed-use development in a market that is second to none, but also allowed us to align the Omni brand with the Atlanta Braves to deliver a new and unique experience to thousands of people over 80 times a year (at the Braves home games). And that’s not even counting all other non-baseball related events held at SunTrust Park, The Battery, and the Coca-Cola Roxy event center throughout the year.”
Today, the luxury hotel is the cornerstone of a true lifestyle destination that attracts locals and visitors alike to the area year-round.
Taking advantage of its locale within The Battery Atlanta and proximity to the Braves’ SunTrust Park, Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta stays true to the brand’s mission of giving visitors an authentic feel for local culture. Throughout the hotel’s design, guests will find subtle yet clever nods to one of America’s favorite pastimes.
Walk into any of the 264 guest rooms, including 28 upgraded room types, and find a large headboard and bench with tufted upholstery inspired by materials used in baseball gloves. A sophisticated color palette of warm gray, steel blue and rich reds, inspired by the Braves’ team colors, also adds to the nostalgia but isn’t overly conspicuous. “Every room has some elements of baseball, like a locker when you walk into the closet,” Plant says.
This masculine-yet-refined aesthetic is also found throughout other aspects of the hotel’s design. As guests stroll through the property’s corridors, they will see artwork featuring views of baseball stadiums throughout the country taken from unique perspectives. The Battery Ballroom, boasting more than 5,400 square feet of space, features dramatic chandeliers that bear a resemblance to the Commissioner’s Trophy of Major League Baseball.
“When you walk in our hotel, you will know that you are at The Battery Atlanta and know in some way that we are tied to the Braves organization, but it will be very subtle,” Reyes says.
Outside of the smart aesthetic, the hotel has much to offer business travelers, families on vacation and everyone in between, including more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space. One standout feature: an elevated pool deck and eatery that offers sweeping views into The Battery Atlanta. “Open seasonally, our 582 Waterside Lounge & Bar is 582 feet away from home plate and features classic handcrafted beverages and American fare,” says Katie Clark, director of sales and marketing at Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta.
The hotel also offers a signature restaurant, Achie’s, concepted by James Beard Award-winning chef Hugh Acheson. It features Southern-inspired fare and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunches.
“This ties into, for me personally, the vision that the Braves and Omni as a brand had for this development and this hotel,” Reyes says. “It’s all about providing a unique experience that’s not just baseball. This is a destination where people can arrive and spend time, whether it’s an afternoon or at night and have a genuine, authentic experience that truly represents Atlanta.”
For a memorable take-home trinket, Sound End Trading Co., located on the Plaza level, features a curated collection of gifts for those who love the South. Here, guests can find The Battery Atlanta-inspired offerings like hand-rolled Rocky Patel cigars, classic vinyl albums calling to mind the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre and signed copies of Hugh Acheson’s cookbooks.
Step outside of the Omni Hotel and into a haven of entertainment, culinary and shopping options that is The Battery Atlanta. Guests can find more than 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, including stores like Tomahawk Harley-Davidson, Mizuno Experience Center and Dress Up, along with restaurants like Antico Pizza Napoletana, Todd English Tavern and steakhouse C. Ellet’s.
“In a nutshell, this is a destination that provides a world-class experience for the baseball enthusiasts,” Reyes says. “They can come in prior to the game and have a fantastic dining experience, go to a ball game, and then stay after to enjoy everything The Battery Atlanta has to offer.”
Whether guests come for a Braves game or for the shopping, dining and entertainment, Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta is the preeminent destination to experience the city’s local flavor.
