Megan and Amir tied the knot in a beautiful Art Deco-style San Francisco wedding with a ceremony at the grand Mission Santa Clara de Asis followed by a swanky reception at Omni San Francisco Hotel. The happy couple wanted it to be personal, with a Gatsby-inspired vibe, and every decision they made along the way had meaning to the two of them.
The newlyweds wrote,
For the ceremony, there was never a question about where we would have it. I went to graduate school at Santa Clara University, and only alumni are allowed to get married in the Mission. It’s such a beautiful setting, and we knew we wanted a full Catholic ceremony.
I wanted a glamorous affair, and Amir loves everything about the look and feel of the Great Gatsby. One day, he was watching the movie and during the first party scene of the movie, he told me we need to do an Art Deco theme. We didn’t want to do the typical Art Deco decor, but wanted to add our own spin on the theme to make it really personal. We combined our visions by taking all of the Art Deco design elements Amir loved and the glamorous vision I had. We both wanted a formal wedding, so the colors of black, white and blush were perfect. Instead of the gold, which is typical for Art Deco weddings, we opted for silver accents to add a modern touch to the décor.
For the reception, we wanted to hold it at a hotel since we were expecting so many out-of-town guests. We looked at a few, and once we saw the Omni, it was the perfect setting. The Art Deco design of the building fit perfectly with the theme of the wedding, and the huge chandeliers set against the dark woodwork was absolutely beautiful. Everything about the Omni San Francisco Hotel was perfect and fit everything we wanted.
During the formal reception, Megan and Amir served up a lavish feast for their guests, including rack of lamb, grilled filet of beef, and even shepherd’s pie.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
