Music is a huge part of any community and one of the best ways to truly experience a place. Visiting neighborhood venues is a fun way to interact with the locals, as well as listen to some great tunes. But an even better way to get a taste of the regional culture is through music festivals.
Several Omni Hotels & Resorts properties are located within close distance to some of the largest music festivals in North America. So if you’re ready to see some of the biggest names in music live, read on for five music festivals near Omni locations.
Outside Lands in San Francisco
Outside Lands is an annual musical festival held in Golden Gate Park every August, just four miles away from Omni San Francisco Hotel. It frequently attracts acts as varied as Radiohead, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie and Miguel, as well as comedy acts like Fred Armisen and Charlyne Yi. Along with laughs and tunes, you can also feast at some of the best food trucks the city has to offer or even sit down for a special four-course meal courtesy of the restaurant Trestle.
SXSW Music Festival in Austin
Every year Austin is swarmed with people attending SXSW, which not only plays host to several great music acts at the annual music festival in March, but also hosts film premieres, comedians and conferences in fields like marketing, journalism, food and virtual reality. SXSW always showcases a wealth of musicians, both established and unknown, making for a memorable festival experience. Best of all, Austin is home to three unique Omni properties: Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark, Omni Austin Hotel Downtown and Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa.
CMA Music Festival in Nashville
At this festival, held every June, country music’s biggest stars come together for a night of unforgettable performances. Musicians such as Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum and Blake Shelton have all graced the stage at Nissan Stadium and Music City Center. For country music fans, this festival is an absolute must see in the Music City. And luckily for Omni Nashville Hotel guests, Music City Center is only a quick walk away, while Nissan Stadium is a five-minute drive.
Osheaga Festival Musique et Arts in Montreal
Osheaga attracts around 130,000 attendees each August thanks to musical acts like Bloc Party, Best Coast and Grimes, as well as artists like Melissa Del Pinto and Emily Jan showcasing their paintings and sculptures. The festival aims not to just show off big acts, but help out local and Canadian emerging visual artists and help guests “step out of their comfort zones” as they explore this fun outdoor festival. Best of all? Hotel Omni Mont-Royal is just a quick 20-minute drive away.
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
Celebrate the birthplace of jazz at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in late April. Duke Ellington, Fats Domino and other jazz luminaries have all performed at this festival, which also features crafts, cultural exhibits and Cajun food. Today the festival still showcases plenty of jazz talent, alongside pop, rap and rock acts like Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam and Snoop Dogg. Visitors to New Orleans have three Omni properties to choose from: Omni Riverfront Hotel, Omni Royal Crescent Hotel and Omni Royal Orleans.
