Storied, Upscale Hotel’s Update Features Striking and Inviting Décor

PITTSBURGH, PA (May 2, 2011) – For 95 years, the Omni William Penn Hotel has proudly served as the “Grande Dame” of Pittsburgh and one of the premier meeting and event locations in downtown. Following recently completed renovations of much of the hotel’s meeting and event space, the luxury property has been enhanced with a beautiful and engaging new look along other updates, making it ideal for board meetings, corporate events and social occasions.

The design inspiration for the renovation of the 17th floor, the Conference Level and the Mezzanine Level was to honor the hotel’s classic, traditional design yet marry it with updated, modern touches and technology. Inspired by 19th century botanical lithographs, the hand-sketched feel of the custom-designed carpet gives floral elements a note of sophistication. A warm, neutral backdrop enhances touches of color in the fabrics, carpet and artwork. Wall coverings are modern interpretations of Art Nouveau-inspired patterns.

French Doors were added to replace existing air walls - separating the elegant, renowned Grand Ballroom and the historic Urban Room - providing a richer, more classic feel. An additional meeting room was also created on the 17th floor, adding a permanent boardroom with state-of-the-art audio visual and connectivity capabilities. New windows, window treatments, lighting, furnishings and a new sound system were also part of the enhancements. The resulting look is a beautiful, updated environment which melds perfectly with the traditional setting.
