Chef Francisco Baca, a culinary veteran with a remarkable 15-year career, has left an indelible mark on Austin and San Francisco's food scenes. Raised in El Paso, Texas, his culinary journey began with the rich flavors of his grandma and mom's cooking. After formal training in hospitality management and culinary arts in New York, Francisco honed his skills under the guidance of renowned chefs in San Francisco.
In 2012, he earned acclaim with the Mole to Die For Award, a prelude to his later successes. Notably, in 2023, Chef Baca secured victory at Heritage Fire Austin, representing Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar with a winning creation – Smoked Lamb Leg with avocado, naan bread, cucumber relish, and chile Morita salsa. The dish showcased his innovative approach to live-fire cooking and earned the title of the day's favorite among more than 800 guests.
