AAA Four Diamond-rated restaurant gets a makeover, with striking details, nightly entertainment, and new programming creating an inviting destination for delectable family-friendly dining

BRETTON WOODS, N.H. (December 17, 2015) - The Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H., is setting an inviting table for guests with a newly renovated Main Dining Room and new programming. The resort’s signature restaurant, which has maintained a AAA Four Diamond rating consecutively since 2009, has been redesigned and reconceived with a new layout, striking details to complement rich décor, and nightly entertainment to create a classic dining experience from the award-winning culinary team.

Laid out in unique octagonal fashion beneath a historic vaulted ceiling on the Great Hall level, the Main Dining Room is an inviting destination for family-friendly dining accented by beautiful views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range. Designer Van Dresser, renowned for providing comprehensive services for distinctive design projects globally, led the renovation. The firm took inspiration from history while creating a modern look, reconfiguring the once vast room into intimate zones, and brightening with new crystal chandeliers, Tiffany stained glass, oversized leafy wall sconces, and a palette of crisp, clean and pure blues and greens that, in keeping with tradition, have been romantically grayed.

A custom-designed carpet by Desso, a Netherlands-based company that Van Dresser calls “the most sustainable axminster carpet maker today,” is arrayed with imagery of flora and fauna including butterflies and blue birds indigenous to the area. New hand-pressed artwork animates the space, while new embroidered wallpaper based on a geometric design from the 1800s has been recreated in burnished pearl.

Most of the furnishings throughout the Main Dining Room are U.S.-made, including lounge chairs and banquet seating. The new octagonal layout of the room creates intimate spaces, and Van Dresser took care to array each with seating of varying heights to assure the comfort. Soft seating in the new lounge area off the Princess Room, for instance, beckons guests to relax, have a drink and stay a while. All fabrics throughout are historic, such as custom-made slipcovers hand embroidered with fiddlehead fern design.

Guests settling into the Main Dining Room this winter will also be able to experience new programming. Omni Mount Washington Resort’s recently appointed Director of Food & Beverage Gene Meoni and chefs from the award-winning restaurant have developed a tantalizing, new menu. Featuring fresh, locally sourced meals, the Main Dining Room’s signature dish this season is Maine Lobster Risotto with Seared Georges Bank Scallops, Butternut Squash Puree, Arugula and Roast Tomato Salad.

The Main Dining Room is open daily for dinner from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with entertainment nightly. An elegant breakfast buffet is served daily from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. during the week and 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on the weekends. Afternoon Tea may also be enjoyed on Fridays and Saturdays, with a special children’s menu available. Reservations are strongly encouraged for dinner.
