America’s First Resort embarks on its 56th season with a winter wonderland of activities and valuable packages
January 06, 2016 (Hot Springs, Va.)
– Celebrating its 250th Anniversary this year, and as the south’s first ski resort, The Omni Homestead Resort
will open for its 2016 ski and snowboard season on January 9th. With more than 45 acres
of well-maintained trails, a Penguin Slides Tubing Park
, Rossignol Experience Center, and seasonal ski packages, the resort will be a top destination for the whole family this winter.
A Versatile Ski Retreat
Located just minutes from the front door of The Omni Homestead, the Rossignol Experience Center
at the Mountain Lodge offers the latest innovations from the eminent French equipment manufacturer. Travelers can take advantage of rental skis featuring Auto Turn Rocker technology, which aids in turning, heightens ability and elevates performance. After a day outdoors, relax in the Mountain Lodge, featuring a full-service bar, expansive deck with views of the slopes, and indulge in dinner with local craft beer tastings.
Ski and Snowboard School for All Ages
For guests looking to brush up on their skills, as well as those who are new to the slopes, ski and snowboard instruction is available at Sepp Kober Ski School
. Founded in 1959 at the start of southern skiing at The Omni Homestead, the school offers private and group lessons for adults and children. In addition, the Little Penguins Program
offers a safe learning experience for kids ages 5-11 to learn the basics of equipment, terminology, safety and downhill skiing.
Winter Fun off the Slopes
In addition to traditional skiing, The Omni Homestead offers a wide variety
of outdoor activities. For a more relaxing day, try ice skating
at the Allegheny Springs
rink adjacent to the year-round spring-fed heated outdoor pool
. At the end of the day, enjoy fireside s'mores at the fire pit on the Casino Lawn.
Experience the New Penguin Express
Skis and snowboards are not the only way to slide into winter at The Omni Homestead. Opening later this month, the Penguin Slides Tubing Park
is a lively family-friendly activity, featuring well-groomed lanes and the new Penguin Express
