NASHVILLE AND OMNI HOTELS & RESORTS REACH DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT

IRVING, Texas (October 19, 2010) – The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Omni Hotels & Resorts  reached a definitive development agreement to build the new convention center hotel in downtown Nashville yesterday through a unanimous vote by the 40-member Metro Council. The Omni Nashville Hotel will sit across from the new, state-of-the-art 1.2 million square foot Music City Center currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2013. The new multi-story hotel, which will feature approximately 800 guest rooms and suites and more than 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space, is estimated to open later in 2013.

The spirit of Nashville will be showcased throughout the Omni Nashville Hotel’s design and décor, culinary, lifestyle and retail venues. Additionally, the property will boast a pool, state-of-the-art fitness center and a Mokara signature spa. Nashville’s cultural aspects will be implemented throughout the hotel to appeal to meeting and event attendees, vacationers and locals.

“This is the right hotel deal for Nashville’s new convention center and the overwhelming support of the Metro Council confirms that,” Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said. “When most other cities that have recently built new convention centers have had to publicly finance their hotel projects, Nashville was able to secure a privately-financed, privately-operated headquarters hotel. We have a unique appeal as a convention destination, and Omni has recognized that.”

“Nashville has a growing reputation within the meetings and event industry and as a leisure destination; we feel there is no better time to build this hotel,” said Mike Deitemeyer, president, Omni Hotels & Resorts. “As we worked with the Nashville community and its leadership, it became readily apparent that this is the beginning of many successful years in the Music City.”
