THE OMNI MOUNT WASHINGTON RESORT COMPLETES $60 MILLION RENOVATION
BRETTON WOODS, N.H. (October 13, 2010) – The Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, is pleased to announce the latest phase of enhancements, part of a comprehensive, $60 million expansion and renovation to the award-winning resort. Located at the base of Mount Washington, the multi-phased, property-wide effort began in 2006. The improvements began in the fall of 2009 and include the redesign of several culinary venues, the renovation of guest rooms and suites, the creation of a new Family Suite and more - all with an eye on maintaining the historic nature of the property while embracing modern amenities.
The latest chapter joins other recently completed work, including a new 25,000 square-foot spa; a large, refurbished wraparound veranda; renovation of the main dining room; a new 20,000 square-foot conference center; the restored Donald Ross-designed Mount Washington golf course; and the new Bretton Woods Canopy Tour - quickly becoming a “must” for travelers in New England.
To celebrate the latest updates and the resort’s 108th anniversary, the property is offering the “New & Great at 108” package from $108 per person, per night, based on double occupancy, using the “GREAT” promotions code. The package includes accommodations in a newly-renovated deluxe room, full breakfast each morning, a welcome gift and late check-out. The offer is valid October 15, 2010 through January 13, 2011 based on availability. Black-out dates and other restrictions may apply.
Guest Rooms and Suites
The latest phase showcases the completion of all guest rooms and suites throughout the hotel. Corridors are spruced up with wallpaper inspired by the pattern of the property’s Tiffany stained glass, lighting fixtures based on an original Thomas Edison design and flooring with images of the local flora and fauna of New Hampshire. A highlight of the corridors is on the fourth floor, which features a restored original Tiffany stained glass skylight dating from 1902. Accommodations have been designed with a residential feel by Beaty and Brown of Richmond, VA. The color scheme was created to showcase the natural beauty outside, with crisp, light colors of spring wildflowers found along the trails of Mount Washington. Guests can also enjoy the region’s beauty through photography by artist Ansel Olson, which capture flowers found along the hiking trails, and a reproduction of a map held by the New Hampshire Historical Society.
Restaurants & Bars
The second phase included updating several of the casual food and beverage venues:
- Originally a Prohibition Era speakeasy, The Cave is an American tavern with warm palettes, distressed wood and a classic English-style designed to create a comfortable yet rustic ambiance. In a nod to the past, the entrance maintains a feeling of exclusivity – as if it is still the place to enjoy a cocktail away from disapproving eyes.
- Reconcepted as a pub-style steakhouse with an appreciation for local fare, Stickney’s embraces the American sportsman, with traditional patterns and classic materials creating an atmosphere perfect for “farm-to-table” dining. Elements include lithographs of fish from the local Ammonoosuc River, casts of paw prints and fishing paraphernalia.
- Located in a former train station, Fabyan’s Station is a family dining venue inspired by railway history with vintage railroad art and flooring which resembles train tracks.
And More…
Other additions include the Family Suite, a three-bedroom suite spanning 1,400 square feet and featuring a living room with a fireplace and two separate children’s rooms. Wall coverings with images of butterflies and a “map room” with an atlas creates an air of discovery and adventure. To further enjoy the great outdoors, the resort also added a life-sized chess set featuring two feet high pieces.
