OMNI BEDFORD SPRINGS RESORT ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL "COOKS & CORKS" EXPERIENCE
BEDFORD, PA (March 10, 2009) – “Cooks & Corks” a popular culinary and wine immersion weekend, returns to the renowned Omni Bedford Springs Resort, March 27 - 29, 2009. Award-winning chefs, hands-on cooking demonstrations, seminars on wine and wine tasting sessions as well as other exciting culinary adventures are all part of the scheduled activities at the spectacular resort situated in South Central Pennsylvania, just a few short hours’ drive from Pittsburgh, PA, and Washington, DC.
Wineries represented include: Antinori, Italy; Chateau Saint Michelle, Washington; C&E Estate, France; BV Estate/Sterling Vineyards, California; Penfolds, Australia; Hall Wines, California; Louis Jadot, France; Cakebread Wines, California; Valley of the Moon, California; Kenwood Vineyards, California; Banfi Vintners, Italy; and Trefethen Family Vineyards, California.
The weekend begins on Friday afternoon with a Champagne and chocolate welcome in the Grand Lobby. Guests can enjoy historic tours, treatments at the Springs Eternal Spa, relaxing by the in-door spring-fed pool, hiking, a round of golf or any of the other recreation activities found at the resort. During the evening reception, well-known domestic, international and boutique wineries will be represented including Cakebread, Chateau St. Michelle, Kenwood, Louis Jadot and Penfolds. The wines will be paired with specialty action stations, each attended by an Omni executive chef, who will share their menu creation, ingredient selection and preparation techniques. Guests can also mingle with the winemakers while being treated to live music and dancing.
On Saturday, guests can create their own customized program by choosing from an early morning yoga class, a relaxing breakfast in the resort’s Crystal Room, additional spa treatments, cooking demonstrations and wine seminars. Wine sessions include:

A specially-themed luncheon, Presidential Vices, will showcase presidential food and beverage favorites given the resort’s history of hosting 11 U.S. presidents and serving as the Summer White House for President James Buchanan.
The weekend celebration includes a sumptuous four-course reception and gala-style wine dinner created by Omni Hotels’ executive chefs Konrad Meier of the Omni Bedford Springs Resort, Jacky Francois of the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh and Jeremy Martindale of the Omni New Haven Hotel. These world-class chefs will be on-hand to answer questions and comment on the menu pairings. A casual breakfast on Sunday morning precedes departures.
