OMNI AMEILIA ISLAND PLANTATION WELCOMES EPICURIANS WITH "FLAGS, FOOD & FLIGHTS"

Experience the Flavorful History of the Isle of Eight Flags

AMELIA ISLAND, FL (AUGUST 13, 2012) – Nestled between dune-swept beaches and natural salt marshlands, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation invites food-lovers to indulge in a culinary journey of the only territory in the United States to have been ruled under eight different sovereignties. Diners will travel through the tastes of the Isle of Eight Flags, exploring the local color and charm of Northeast Florida’s barrier island with the “Flags, Food & Flights” culinary immersion weekend, now through Nov. 15, 2012.

The “Flags, Food & Flights”  package includes:

  • Transportation to and from downtown Fernandina
  • In-room flight of Mexican tequila upon arrival
  • French wine and chocolate turndown service
  • English beer flight and fish and chips at Falcon’s Nest
  • Daily American breakfast
  • Luxurious accommodations for two guests

Vacationers transform into food connoisseurs, sampling the tastes of Amelia Island’s rich history. Guests kick start their taste buds with an in-room flight of Mexican tequila, before visiting the on-property watering hole, Falcon’s Nest. The aviation-themed restaurant serves up an English flight of beer and a basket of traditional fish and chips. A French wine and chocolate turndown is best enjoyed on the oceanfront balcony, overlooking the dune-swept beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Early risers meander to the Sunrise Café where they are greeted with warm Southern hospitality and an American breakfast sure to satisfy appetites with cooked-to-order omelets, blueberry sausage and fresh seasonal fruits. A chauffeured ride to downtown Fernandina – the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry and once a haven for the Timucuan Indians, pirates and nobles – allow diners to discover an array of local fare and fresh-caught seafood, including Pirate’s Punch at Florida’s oldest continuously running bar, the Palace Saloon. Explorers browse antique stores, bookshops and clothing boutiques along historic Centre Street, drinking in the charming Victorian sea village.

The “Flags, Food & Flights” package starts at $205 per night for two adults. A two-night minimum stay is required. Rates do not include resort fees and taxes, cannot be combined with any other offer and does apply to groups.
