THE OMNI MOUNT WASHINGTON RESORT AND ST. JOHNSBURY ACADEMY PLAN TEE IT UP FOR TY

Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit the Son of Melissa Jenkins

April 25, 2012 (Bretton Woods, NH) – The Omni Mount Washington Resort and St. Johnsbury Academy have teamed up for the Tee It Up For Ty charity golf tournament that will take place at the resort on Saturday, May 12. The fundraiser will benefit the young son of Melissa Jenkins, the beloved St. Johnsbury Academy teacher, who was recently lost to a brutal act of violence. Proceeds from the Tee It Up For Ty golf tournament, silent auction and barbeque will be added to the Melissa Jenkins Memorial Trust Fund for young Ty, care of the Passumpsic Savings Bank.

The tournament will be an 18-hole, four-person scramble format, played on the Donald Ross-designed Mount Washington Course. Prizes will be awarded for the overall first place team, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. Plus, one lucky golfer to make a hole in one on the Par 5, 167-yard fifth hole will win a brand new 2012 Volvo XC60, courtesy of Volvo Cars of North America.

The afternoon will conclude with the barbeque, featuring entertainment by local favorites Los Huevos, a silent auction and the awards ceremony. Prizes and silent auction items to include Red Sox tickets, overnight stays, restaurant certificates, golf rounds, ski tickets and more.

The Tee It Up For Ty master of ceremonies is actor Luis Guzman, a well-respected actor who has appeared in numerous films and television productions since he began his professional acting career in the early 1980s on the TV show Miami Vice. He has since appeared in such films as Carlito's Way, with Al Pacino, the critically acclaimed Boogie Nights, with Mark Wahlberg, and the masterful crime epic Traffic, with Michael Douglas. Meanwhile, he had a regular role as Raoul “El Cid” Hernandez, the leader of the Latino prison gang, on the HBO series Oz, and is currently cast as Rene Calderon on HBO’s comedy-drama series How to make it in America.

"My family and I have strong ties to Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, and I am honored to be part of the Tee It Up For Ty fundraising event," says Guzman.
