allison atson

Allison Watson

Ms. Watson began her professional career as a studio artist in her early twenties but has been painting since she was a small child. A native Floridian, the inspiration for her paintings come from her love of the natural environment and her travels in the woodlands, lakes, springs, dunes and beaches of Florida. Painting from her own photography, taken while kayaking, canoeing or hiking in remote areas, allows her to create images of the natural world. “I would like my work to convey not only the beauty of the land, but its fragility and that it’s important to human kind.” She is on the teaching staff of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, and teaches private classes and workshops. Her work can found in over six hundred private, public and corporate collections nationally.

From Brooklyn, New York to 24 years in London, to running a nightclub in Corfu, Greece to the middle of Nowhere in France to 11 years in Spain. Ms. Leniston started with a love of clay sculpture, then welding large steel sculptures before a realization that it was time to work in a more manageable medium, i.e. acrylic/mixed media. Her work has been collected in Europe and the USA. Awards include 'Best and Brightest' at Scottsdale Artist School, Arizona. 'Most Promising Artist' at Scottsdale Community College. Her artwork is shown at three galleries on Amelia Island and she teaches art classes in acrylics and mixed media. Currently living at Amelia Island, Ms. Leniston loves the area and is happy to stay put for awhile!

jose garcia

Jose Garcia

Jose was born in the West Indies, on the island of Puerto Rico where his family immigrated from Spain during the Spanish Civil War. As a young man, Jose loved to draw, sketch and create. While he has never formally attended art classes, he has developed a style all his own with signature colors, pulling from his world travels and 40 years as a flight attendant. His love of animals and flora of the tropics permeate many of his designs. Jose’s admiration of superstar performer and humanitarian, Josephine Baker inspired his collection of over 25 exotic and colorful images if her international career. Working in various media, recently he created a collection of Alcohol Inks on clay boards, canvases and ceramic tiles. His artwork has been exhibited at various venues throughout Amelia Island, where he has called home for the past 12 years.
