Historic Allegheny Mountains resort to celebrate the unique flavors, craft beer and wine of the “Old Dominion”

Hot Springs, Va. (Aug. 5, 2015) – Foodies craving the ultimate culinary experience with flavors true to the state of Virginia are invited to attend the fourth annual Taste of the Region at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. Taking place on the Casino Lawn of the legendary resort on Saturday, August 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., the event will include an evening of delectable food, wine and beer tastings.

Event attendees will choose from a menu specially prepared and locally sourced for Taste of the Region 2015 — all while enjoying the stunning backdrop of mountain beauty and live music performed by Virginia’s very own Cedar Creek Band. Menu highlights include:

• Highland County Pure and Simple Lamb Meatballs, with a fire-roasted heirloom tomato sauce and arugula salad
• Highland County Pure and Simple BBQ Lamb Riblets, with applewood-smoked corn on the cob, Homestead butter, sea salt and smoked paprika
• Allegheny Trout Escabeche and Smoked Trout, with Homestead oven crostini, pickled fennel and toy box tomato salad
• Riven Rock Beltie Burger Sliders, with pimento cheese and bacon
• Rock Barn Kielbasa Corn Dogs, with Jake’s Spicy Honey Mustard
• Grilled Harvest Vegetables, with lemon garlic aioli, olive oil, Virginia Vinegar Works and malted vinegar jus
• Homestead Donut Holes in banana, chocolate, cinnamon and sugar

Attendees can complement these dishes with carefully selected varietals and vintages from Virginia’s winemakers. Local winemakers pouring at Taste of the Region include Prince Michel Winery, Chateau Morrisette, Barboursville Winery and more. Local craft brewers, cider makers and distillers will showcase their libations, including Wild Wolf Brewery, Licking Hole Brewery, Starr Hill Brewery, Smooth Ambler Spirits and Catoctin Creek Distillery.

Price of admission: $55 per adult and $25 per child ages 6 to 12. Each guest will receive two drink tickets that are good for a “taste” of two featured wines, beers or spirits. Children’s price includes one ticket good for a craft soda.
