Charlottesville Downtown Mall

Downtown Mall

A visit to Central Virginia just isn't complete without visiting Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Mall. This outdoor mall, located on eight city blocks between Main Street and Water Street, features brick-paved sidewalks that are covered with 150 shops and restaurants, most of which are indigenous to Charlottesville. It has enough variety to please just about anyone who is interested in visiting – candy stores for the kids, cheeseburger joints for the picky eaters, and fancy restaurants for date nights. The mall also features the historic Jefferson and Paramount Theaters, both of which offer a diverse sampling of all sorts of entertainment. Last but not least, the mall boasts multiple specialty boutique stores where you can find the perfect vacation keepsake!

Things to Know Before You Go to the Downtown Mall

  • There is ample parking available at the Downtown Mall's surrounding parking garages, but you can expect to pay around $2 per hour.
  • Al fresco dining is offered at most every restaurant on the mall during the warmer summer months.
  • Each store, restaurant, art gallery and theater operates by their own schedule, therefore, you need to check each of their individual hours of operation before visiting. Typically later hours are offered on the weekends rather than weekdays.
  • The Omni Charlottesville Hotel backs up to one end of the Downtown Mall. In order to visit, all you have to do is walk out our back doors and you're instantly swept up in the hustle and bustle of the historic mall.
  • We offer complimentary parking to all of our guests, so when you're on your very own personal tour of the mall, you can take all the time in the world and not have to worry about paying for it.
