Surrounded by the Allegheny Mountains, our resort setting creates the perfect environment for outdoor pursuits every family member can enjoy. From horseback riding and hiking to fly fishing and archery, there’s an activity for kids of any age at The Omni Homestead Resort.

Advanced reservations for all activities are strongly recommended. Please contact us via email or at (540) 839-3860 for reservations or information.

Please be advised that no-shows and cancellations made 24 hours or less before a reservation will be charged the full fee. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance will be processed without penalty.

Payment for all resort charges, such as dining, shop purchases and activity fees, will be to your guest room folio or credit card. The Omni Homestead resort's restaurants, bars, retail shops and amenities will no longer accept cash.

There’s a reason our resort is home to southwest Virginia’s choice archery range for recreational bowmen. Its 10 stationary targets are set at varying distances for adults and children and a wide selection of bows accommodate right- and left-handed archers, both adult and youth. Try your hand at bow and arrow shooting!

Hike the Gorge

Cascades Gorge Hike

Don’t miss one of the most popular activities at The Omni Homestead Resort. On this tour, you’ll be led and entertained by a naturalist through a series of beautiful waterfalls alongside a deep, Allegheny Mountain gorge trail. Learn about regional and unusual flora and fauna in this semi-tropical environment and the medicinal and edible properties of the many local plants. It’s a 1.8 mile journey and one of the most beautiful in the region.

  • Intermediate hiking ability and endurance are required for this 3-hour journey
  • Bottled drinking water is provided

To protect and preserve the Cascades Gorge, self-guided hikes are not permitted. This area is private property and may only be accessed via a guided hike or with a Homestead fly fishing guide.

Falcon hunting has a long-standing reputation for being the sport of kings. And here in the Virginia countryside, it still is. Guests of The Omni Homestead Resort can participate in a field sports tradition that stretches back nearly 4,000 years. Learn the fine points of the sport with trained birds of prey – including falcons, hawks and owls – at The Omni Homestead Resort's Mews, a world-class Virginia falconry facility.

The Omni Homestead Resort is located in one of the country’s most scenic settings. Whether you prefer to hike or bike on our miles of trails, you’ll find breathtaking views all around. Explore the resort with a leisurely ride on a regular bike or E-bike, or head out on a full suspension mountain bike for an exhilarating adventure on our new trails. Trail maps available at the Activities Experience Center.

Enjoy a scenic, 50-minute tour around The Homestead and surrounding areas with our six-speed, pedal-assisted Pedego e-bikes that allow you to choose the level of exertion used. A professional guide will share the best views and local history. Ages 14 & up.

Paddle the beautiful Jackson River by kayak, canoe, or raft. Our paddle trips are one of our most popular activities here at The Omni Homestead. All our river trips feature impressive scenery, fun rapids, a moving current, generally crystal clear conditions, and amazing cliffs and mountain views. We run these trips on Saturdays and Sundays during paddling season when weather and water levels permit.

This 2.5-3 hour clinic covers the basics of river safety and paddling on the mild waters of the Jackson River. Our large selection of kayaks and the suitability for most ages makes this a great trip for the whole family.

Min. age 6; children 10 & under must ride in tandem with an adult.

Lawn Games

Challenge the family to croquet or cornhole on the lawn. Equipment available in the Casino Pro Shop from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and at the Front Desk from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

There’s a reason our Allegheny Mountain-surrounded tennis courts have hosted champions for years. The resort offers four Har-Tru courts in a convenient location for you to enjoy.

  • Access to the tennis courts is included with your daily resort fee, but reservations are recommended.
  • Courts are reserved by the hour with a two hour maximum.
  • Guests must check in at the Casino pro shop prior to using the courts.

Axe Throwing

Try your hand at the ancient skill of Axe Throwing during this 1-1.5 hour experience. A trained guide will teach the proper technique to stick the axe in the wood target. Our range and targets are designed for all skill levels. Minimum age 12 years old.
