Surrounded by the Allegheny Mountains, our resort setting creates the perfect environment for outdoor pursuits every family member can enjoy. From horseback riding and hiking to paintball and Segway tours, there’s an activity for kids of any age at The Omni Homestead Resort.

Payment for all resort charges, such as dining, shop purchases and activity fees, will be to your guest room folio or credit card. The Omni Homestead resort's restaurants, bars, retails shops and amenities, with the exception of Martha's Market, will no longer accept cash.

The Mini Cascades Miniature Golf Course is The Omni Homestead Resort's newest family-friendly attraction. This challenging activity features 18 holes inspired by our famous Cascades Course.

Falconry

Falcon hunting has a long-standing reputation for being the sport of kings. And here in the Virginia countryside, it still is. Guests of The Omni Homestead Resort can participate in a field sports tradition that stretches back nearly 4,000 years. Learn the fine points of the sport with trained birds of prey – including falcons, hawks and owls – at The Omni Homestead Resort's Mews, a world-class Virginia falconry facility.

An endless array of games and activities await guests of all ages at The Omni Homestead Resort. Challenge the family to a classic lawn game tournament, from badminton and lawn croquet to volleyball and cornhole.

Horseback Riding

Horseback Riding

Our stables house approximately 50 horses. Ride a trail through the wooded forest. Breathe the clean mountain air. Soak up the beauty of the Alleghenies. And come away refreshed.

Details:

  • Equestrian Center is closed on Tuesdays 
  • Western saddles available (English saddles available upon request)
  • All rides are accompanied by a guide
  • Wear close-toed shoes with sturdy sole
  • Wear jeans or long pants
  • Must be 4' 6" tall to ride
  • Group Trail Ride – 1 hour $99

Hike the Gorge

Don’t miss one of the most popular activities at The Omni Homestead Resort. On this tour, you’ll be led and entertained by a naturalist through a series of beautiful waterfalls alongside a deep, Allegheny Mountain gorge trail. Learn about regional and unusual flora and fauna in this semi-tropical environment and the medicinal and edible properties of the many local plants. It’s a three-mile journey and one of the most beautiful in the region.

  • Intermediate hiking ability and endurance are required for this 3-hour journey
  • Bottled drinking water is provided

Horse carriage ride in Hot Springs

Carriage Rides

Along wooded trails through the tranquil countryside of Virginia, romantic getaways take an inspired turn in an enchanting horse-drawn carriage. The Omni Homestead Resort’s equestrian center can arrange private tours of the Virginia landscape with carriage rides just for two or for up to five passengers. Rides follow the resort’s secluded wooded trail.

Hayrides

Take a hayride through our beautiful resort and then enjoy making and eating s'mores at the Mountain Lodge for an evening of family fun.

Segway tour in Hot Springs

Segway Tours

Personalized instruction will teach you how to tour The Omni Homestead Resort's wooded trails on a Segway while breathing the fresh mountain air and listening to the sounds of nature.

  • Must weigh between 100-250 lbs.

Kayaking

Kayaking & Canoeing

Would you rather paddle the Jackson River by canoe or explore it by kayak? Join us for one of our kayaking or canoeing expeditions.

  • Clothing: swimwear & shoes for water
  • $89 per person (kayaking – must be 12 years old and minimum of 50 lbs.)

Our wooded course, complete with Tippman and GV semi-automatic rental markers, is unique. Gather a group of friends and give it a go.

Archery

Archery

There’s a reason our resort is home to southwest Virginia’s choice archery range for recreational bowmen. Its eight stationary targets are set at varying distances for adults and children and a wide selection of bows accommodate right- and left-handed archers, both adult and youth. Try your hand at bow and arrow shooting – our range opens each year starting in April.
